Newton soda

That's a great looking bottle! Not many sodas with the sided shoulder. The Holmes from NO and the Sammis from Long Island are the only ones that come to mind.

Your not going to be believe this, but I just remembered I have a light green Petaled Holmes sitting in my garage. Its been waiting to be tumbled for over 10 years.
It was dug around the New Orleans area, got it from a NO digger awhile ago and was going to tumble it, but starting having a few major surgeries and couldn't do anything.
Also, my memory is shot, don't have much of one now.
Don't know about the Sammis bottle. What is like?

Here's a photo courtesy of George Fisher's book. They're extremely rare, only about a dozen known in varying condition if my memory serves? 1 of only 6 Long Island pontiled sodas, and 1 of 2 pontiled Long Island sodas not from Brooklyn. This is probably my grail bottle

Thanks for picture. That is a very good looking bottle. Quite rare. Would love to own one, but then again if I did, then I would probably say that I want the Newton (collector's sickness.)

Nope, unfortunately I do not. Long Island bottles are pretty much my only area of knowledge. I do remember seeing Newtons in past auction catalogs on glassworks and heckler and I think they were pretty heavily contested lots, so they're probably on the rarer side

I did see a Newton on an auction site, can't remember when and which one. That was the first time I saw one. Then, out of blue someone from the West Coast (CA) offered me a small collection. It had the Newton and the rest of collection was not my type of bottles. However, I really wanted the Newton, so I bought the collection.
Sold off the rest of the bottles to a dealer friend.
I think I have only about 30 pontiled sodas and mineral waters in my collection. I down sized when I become ill and needed $. Miss my cobalt Nash and yellow green Pennos. Probably miss more, but can't remember them.

You're welcome, but I unfortunately don't have a sammis. Picture is from George Fisher's book, Long Island Soda, Beer, and Mineral Water Bottles and Bottling Companies, 1840-1970 4th edition. One day though!

Well, dang it, you don't own one. Maybe in the future, I hope you have the chance to put one on your self.
Soon, all of us might have the opportunity to buy bottles at very low prices (if we have any $.)

I dug out the Holmes and I don't think my Holmes is a petal.
Took some pictures of it, also it looks like its aqua and not green.
After sitting in my garage for so long, I found resin repair on the lip that can be seen now.
I heard (too late) that this N.O. digger was a rip off, luckily I bought just one bottle from him.
Look at the photos and tell me what you think.

Not pronounced but I'd still think that counts as pedaled. Know nothing about holmes bottles so it could be that theres another mold with more pronounced features thats considered "the" pedaled version. It's a little beat but still very nice even with the lip repair. I'd tumble it and see how it does

Here's my Holmes. Not petaled in my opinion, but a sided shoulder at least. The aqua examples are relatively common as far as I know, but one deep cobalt example exists, too. It's pictured in the color section of one of Alan Schmeisser's(?) books on sodas and was in the Rusty Frye collection. Hard to beat that primitive embossing.
