This bottle was supposed to have been ground dug at a Confederate camp in Richmond VA. One thing for sure it was ground dug and I think it's 1800,s era. Anyhow I hope the forum experts will chime in.

3 piece mold beer. And certainly old enough to have been from American civil war. I'd say it could be english or american though.

England supported the CS and beer may have been an essential item that got through the Union Naval blockade. Stranger things have happened.

Like Jim G, I am uncertain of the origin of the bottle. It is not distinctively British, in my estimation. I don't like the "skirt" of the lip finish for British. I would like to see the color of the glass, but I am leaning toward American-made.

Enclosed are more pics that I tried to capture color of bottle appears to be same color of the one Harry posted. I used warm soap water a cleaning rod with cloth patch and ball bearings to help get most of the crud out. Bottle height is 9 inches.
