I was excited to find this codd in a store today but suspect it to be modern. I've just now reading the previous posts about modern Codds from India. It just seems to be in too good condition. The seam does not go into the lip and it appears that the lip was applied. The seem does go into the rim of the base but not across it. The ball is basically the same Aqua color as the bottle. The bottle is not embossed. Go ahead and give me the bad news, I can take it

I'm not sure if there's a way to tell for certain, but it seems pretty likely to be a modern Codd. The fact that it's unembossed is a pretty telltale sign itself, because Codds were quite expensive to make in the 19th/early 20th century so few bottlers would have been willing to risk losing theirs, whereas few if any modern Indian Codds have a bottler's name embossed on them.

It's not known how many American bottlers used unembossed paper label Codd bottles with proprietary labels. The lip is too crude i believe to be new. Early 1900's? I'm not sure where it comes from U.S. or Canada or the U.K.?
