This is an ink bottle. The lip I believe is called a rolled lip. The extra glass on the base is a pontil. I think they call this a snap pontil, but I am not exactly sure.Any idea as to what this contained?
Found in a GA privy.
Thanks!
Dave
Informative post, as usual, Harry. Open pontil is the terminology I have heard and read in bottle collecting books since 1971. "Snap pontil scar" is a newly encountered term for me.An "open" pontil scar is the same as a "blow-pipe pontil scar."
A "snap" pontil scar sounds like a collector coinage for a "glass-tipped" pontil scar.
