“Original” 1800s Snuff bottle

Found last weekend, this is what I like to call a “original” snuff bottle. Usually us collectors find the more modern snuff bottles from the 20th century, but this is a genuine 1800s snuff bottle. Correct me if I am wrong, but aren’t these crude 1800s snuff bottles somewhat uncommon? I can’t seem to find many original ones on the internet. I’d say this one dates from circa 1880-1890. Some of these pictures try to display the crudity of the bottle. NOTE: this is not machine made, the first picture is
deceiving as it looks like a horizontal seam on the neck. Obviously not machine made with that base.

Unfortunately, that style with a tooled finish, which is from 1880's-1920's or so based on the context I have dug them in, is super common, at least in what I dig. We don't even bring them home any more. The earlier ones have chamfered corners and are a little bit harder to find but still pretty common.

I agree with you. Have dug several of these snuff bottles over the years as well in Maine. This type is usually found in early 1900's dumps.
