I got this very clean Dr. Pierce’s Golden Medical Discovery yesterday for $5. I know these are not uncommon but the condition was great. Also my son just started med school at NYU and I was looking for a nice quack medicine bottle for him to display in his room. Question: what is approx date on this one, I know these were made well into the screw top era. This one has lots of bubbles, and a large vertical scar (thought it was a crack at first). The seam stops well below the double lip. Can the experts tell me please if it was a BIM type and how the lip was finished. I’m one year into this hobby now and have learned a lot but much more to go.

Nice bottle! Even if it is common 5 bucks isn't a bad price for a nice condition quack med of that era. I'd date it to around 1890-1910, and it is indeed a BIM bottle with a tooled lip. I was recently surprised to see that Dr. Pierce's is still around, either that or someone revived the brand. They still sell some pretty sketchy-looking products.

Congrats to your son for getting into med school!

Thank you. I had seen reference to ones like this being right around TOC or soon thereafter. I usually just dig bottles (almost all post 1900), but thought $5 was a good deal when I saw it.
