I have this old milk delivery box from the 50's it seems, but my neighbor used to own it and painted over the front. Anybody know how to get the white paint off and still preserve the metal box with possibly the words still under it. I have included a picture of the inside lid.

I don't know about preserving the words underneath it, since the paint might have bonded to those. If it's latex paint it's typically easy to remove after soaking in warm water for a few minutes. Not sure if there would be any risk to the rest of the box by doing that, but it's what I do to remove paint from light-switch wall plates and that sort of thing.

Have you heard of ’Goof Off’? I’ve gotten paint off of an old dresser with it
