P Van Gents Glazed Clay Bottle.

Bought this bottle, 11 1/2" tall x 3 1/4" diameter at a local picker/thrift shop here in Florida for $24. Only found info. on the factory in Holland that has this name on it that likely produced it. Have not found information on the bottle itself, but research indicates it is probably a gin bottle. Anyone out there have any other information? Much appreciated.

I think it's quite modern, probably mid-20th century. I've found similar bottles with even cruder debossing than yours in 1950s-60s dumps which weren't marked "1 liter". Since there's no "federal law prohibits" it either postdates the requirement or wasn't intended for sale in the U.S. There are a lot of references to the company I can find online from the early-mid 20th century, but not much information beyond that. Very cool pictures and info. thanks so much. It is a neat bottle at least for my collection, I didn't have any of these. I too found a picture of a factory, but with the actual name on the building, P. Van Gents, not Sheidam. It also has or had a large tower in the back. One document stated it was started in 1870. So, still piecing it together?

I saw that photo too, but could only find it on Pinterest so I wasn't able to copy it. The tower in the back is a windmill in a bad state of disrepair. Today it has been restored and has blades again.
