I think it's real.
Crazy short barrel tho. I've only found revolvers until this one..

kind of looks like a BB gun to me , they had some realistic ones back then as the western thing really popular at the time

the weight be most likely way to tell , if its cast iron really heavy likely real but if its lighter likely not , the BB guns not as heavy

It was beefy and looked to have a big bore. Whenever I go back I'll either clean it up in the creek or bring it home to investigate.

It's pretty much just lever action shaped rust, but it's neat. Maybe wall hanging neat lol.

I hadn't realized it was a lever action, I was trying to figure out what I was looking at there. I'd definitely bring that one home, I don't think sawed-off rifles are particularly common finds. That one's likely got some interesting history behind it, with some electrolysis you could probably remove the rust and get an idea of what the model was. Hopefully it's not rusted through too badly, with the rust gone it could be a good display piece.

I think 90% of what I dig up has interesting history lol.

It would be cool if it can be semi cleaned up, I fear it's nearly solid rust tho..
