Hi friends, I recently made a post WTB a Peters Root Beer and received a PM from member ryan083. I was so excited I failed to notice this was a brand new member with 0 previous posts. This was a post for a friend of mine. My friend messaged me and replied he didn't get a good vibe from the seller at the email address I gave him as the reply was all about my buddy's budget and not how much he wanted for the bottle. He also wouldn't send my friend any pictures! So luckily my friend sent no money! I did a little search and found that email address was being used in other scams. My advice be extra cautious of any new member selling! The scammer prob has alot of profiles and email addresses! Enclosing screen shots of the PM and the same scam on a bike forum. Thanks!

When there is money involved, scammers show themselves..

Luckily, the are usually somewhat obvious.

If something seems to good to be true....9/10 it is.

So sorry that happened.

To clarify, 2 scammers have been reported here over the last year. That scammer only made it under 4 days. The one before that was similar. However, scammers yes are actively hitting most forums, so be careful.

We are very careful at moderating the forum's new accounts, as much as possible.

The biggest scam going on forums normally runs when someone messages you to email another person. If anyone ever suspects someone please tell us, also any time you may find yourself considering a deal, message me, I am happy to scan the account for possibilities of a scam.

So as a "new guy" to this group I can't help but notice that most times when I am logged in (as a member) there are between 3-10 other members on and over a hundred or more "guests." Are these really guests considering joining or more likely are they bots or scammers probing for opportunities to phish for money or data? It's not like we are trading platinum or bitcoin here but some of these bottles can fetch some real money so be careful out there.

Well, anytime a person isn't willing to send photos......that should be a dead giveaway not to trust them. Glad that you caught on to the scumbag and didn't send any money.
