It wasn't an area I planned to dig for bottles, but after finding tons of glass (metal detecting), I dug..
Was a few feet down, wouldn't have found it otherwise.

I'm stoked! Never found something so valuable!

Wow, I bet the person who lost that while taking out the trash was pretty upset about it! (Either that or someone got cheated on). Great find! Definitely not a common thing to find in a dump.

i've found rings before but they weren't pure gold and not very valuable , someone likely lost it accidently or tossed it away intentionally maybe gold wasn't as valuable back then ? although losing it accidently more likely
