I bought this bottle today at an antique shop. It has a strange double lable with both diet Pepsi and normal Pepsi label. I also don't know what the brown stain wrap is. Anyone know anything about it, or have any ideas?

Greetings jpatte7871,

Wow. this one is news to me. Very interesting though. The only three things I can guess what (l-o-n-g o-d-d-s) might be the reason: A) the "stain label' was added for a sight challenged person. It seems to have some relief in the letters. B) There was a mistake at the bottlers. They either put the diet in the wrong bottle or C) they ran out of the pre-made diet bottles. Rather than waste the batch the stain label was added. Can't wait for the Pepsi people to weigh in. In any case, a wise idea to pick this one up. Welcome to our bottle club!

I agree it's quite an oddity. Thanks Len for your two cents!

Looks to me they did what they would do to beer cans, black out the old info & print new label or info over it. LEON.

These were reused bottles. Old Diet Pepsi that they repainted to use for Pepsi. They looked awful, but may have saved them thousands of dollars.
I have a Joe Louis bottle repainted with Kayo. They really look bad, but the bottom line speaks loudest.

Wow, that's cool! I don't think I've seen a repainted ACL before. I think I saw a post a while ago about one that had the old label removed and a new ACL put in its place, but looks like they didn't bother with the first step on this one.

There are some embossed bottles, Ace Beverages, and
others, some of the embossed lettering was ground off the bottles. Off the bottles. Not the molds.

you'd think if there was that much work going into re-using the bottles the deposit price would be increased.

Sure, just pass the price on to the consumer. Sound familiar? :(
