Can anyone please help identify these two bottles recently unearthed on a hike in Groton MA? I've searched the interwebs but only came up with the glass manufacturer information using the stamps on the base. So far as I can cipher they're Owens of Illinois "hobnail" (?), moulded, screw top, soda(?) bottles.
The Manufacturers or "Makers Mark" (MM), in the upper center of the base, shows a capital "I" inside an oval indicating they're from the Owens of Illinois Glass Company.
The Owens of Illinois Glass Company indicates where a bottle was produced with the number to the left of the "MM" . One bottle has a "2" telling me it was made in Huntington West Virginia. The other has a "14" telling me it was made in Bridgetown New Jersey.
The number to the right of the "MM" is the Date Code (DC). On many bottles, a single-digit "DC" indicates the bottle was made in the 1930's or early 1940's. Most bottles from the late 1940's and later have two digit date codes, although single digit date codes were sometimes used in later decades without a period to the right of the code. The Huntington West Virginia bottle has a"DC" of "0" telling me that it was made in either 1930 or 1940. The Bridgetown, New Jersey bottle has a "DC" of "1", telling me it was made in either 1931 or 1941.
The number in the lower center of the base is the Mold Code (MC). The Huntington West Virginia bottle has an "MC" of "2" while the the Bridgetown, New Jersey bottle has an "MC"of "9" with a dash.
Liquor bottles and flasks made by Owens of Illinois Glass Co have a two digit “Liquor Bottle Permit Number" (LBPN) followed by a dash.
The Bridgetown New Jersey plant has the "LBPN" of "55" and the West Virginia bottle has the "LBPN" of 57.
