Iron pontiled barrel on Ebay

Here's another pontil puzzle. Now they were using iron pontils on barrel bitters into the 1870's! At least he calls it an iron pontil instead of graphite. I will give him that. Seems like a novice and not really a bottle guy. Probably did a tad of research and/or was told that by the person he got it from. Probably picked it up cheap in a shop maybe because it's got burst bubbles and the lip is chunked(darn near destroyed) and its unembossed.. Seems like a decent seller who just picked up a few bottles somewhere but it's funny how misinformation is so widely propagated on Ebay. This guy just tried to list and be as accurate as possible with his information at hand. Nothing against him.

You intended to add a link to the eBay listing, did you not?

I don't know how. Just search iron pontil barrel bitters. Only one there

Really the only thing he got wrong was the decade the bottle is from...its in bad shape but he took plenty of photos. It does have an iron pontil.

Certainly older than 1870's. But that bottle's seen better days. Wouldn't want the broken lip in my house. You'll forget it's broken one day and grab it by mistake.
