There are a few places I've been searching that have pre-1900 logging history, but have also been steadily logged ever since.

Anyone been down this nightmare of a road?
Were you successful at all?

Over the summer went looking for a dump that I believe was from a local dairy farm. I could see the cleared area and the road that led up to it on the 1957 aerials. However, the town bought the land this year and is looking to build some sort of structure there. They ended up cutting down a lot of trees and brush, completely covering the dump. There was a little bit of metal exposed, so I was right about the dump being there.

there had been some logging on our property years ago , i recall finding a few soda bottles around one of the places they used to store things but had since grown in and now trees

around here pretty much everything was logged before the 1900's , but some areas haven't been logged much since if at all

Well, there are a few exceptions; though government agencies generally frown upon digging at those historical landmarks like Fort Vancouver or Fort Nisqually!

That marker is on the grounds of Fort Lewis where I worked for ten years. Sure made me wonder what might lie at the bottom of "Old Fort Lake" in the community of Dupont. Shoot, I'd even be thrilled with a demijohn that once held nitric acid from the early-nineteenth century operations of DuPont Powder Works, but not with the fine and possible incarceration that would accompany the search!

Just like any "dumps" related to the military here, I've already acquired more heavy metals and toxins for a lifetime..

Not every hill is worth dying on.

I found an old map online that the archeologists on post didn't even know about. As I recall, it was 1916 vintage. It depicted a feature within the current cantonment, fairly close to Camp Murray, labeled "Hydraulic Dump." Now, what do you suppose that site contains?

Not all that funny.
The military has long used the most dangerous materials; then dumped them haphazardly (often without thorough records).

I only halfway joke in regards to my exposure.
I ain't looking for more lol..
