Idk why it's taken me so long to buy a properly old Jug like this.... for a while I was holding out hope I would find some intact stoneware during one of my bottle hunts. It still could happen.

Anyway, here it is. If someone could help me date it that'd be great.

Pretty much no damage except a little chip on the lip.

There was some writing on the bottom at one point for sure, but it's super faded.

Yeah these don't seem to show up intact in dumps too often, they're quite common in stores but I suspect most came from barns and attics. It's hard for things that large to survive intact in a dump. I think yours is a fairly late style, maybe 1920s-ish, give or take a decade. I'm not sure when these stopped being produced.

Almost always I dig them in dumps broken. But one day I did dig 2 different intact ones out of 2 different holes which is a real rarity. Sorry, can't help you on age or date? LEON.

I know there is a company that has the base embossed usually vague. I have a stoneware book. I will see if I can find it.

That's an old photo from when I had it for sale. I am not trying to sell here and have revised my price since and still can't sell it. Nobody is buying antiques around here.

I may have ID'ed the jug. I believe it was made by RCP CO. Akron OH.

Here's another for sale. Same color tones, same mottling, same exact handle.

Here's the bottom of a RCP CO. Akron OH jug:

Here's mine

There seem to be two types of stoneware jugs I've seen made by this company: One type has the top of the handle attaching just below the start of the neck like debodun's, and the other has the top of the handle attaching directly to the neck just below the lip like mine. Not sure which would be older....The extra lip on the "debodun" type suggests to me it's more advanced/newer. maybe.....

Good call on that OH jug. They made a lot of those. Still, at $8. you made out at less than half price. Nice deal.
