Discovered an amazing new place! Began probing around in the clay and I hear *tink!* dig around and low and behold - a circle slug plate embossed whiskey flask!

The flask reads: "Honest Measure Simon Strauss Inc 221-223 W 116th ST 467 Columbus Ave N.Y. One Half Pint"

Also found a tooled-blob Citrate Magnesia bottle WITH the original porcelain lightning stopper!

The stopper was made by Karl Hutter and shows a patent date of February 3, 1892.

I probed around the clay for several minutes between finds and also uncovered a milk bottle, ketchup, two small meds, and a tooled-blob beer bottle, but it was broken. All the finds besides the milk and ketchup were tooled bottles. It seems the finds at this site so far date to the 1890's-1910's.

There is alot of wood and animal bones, with no sign of gassoline, industrial chemicals, batteries, or lightbulbs, and this is an excellent sign as it means we are digging in an old place. The other places I dig are filthy with chemicals and other more modern things in comparison. And we have barely scratched the surface of this new place!

Was discussing slug-plate embossed flasks fairly recently. For whatever reason, I've always been fond of the type even though custom bottle molds were more expensive for a product manufacturer or bottler to acquire. Having an address one can look up on Google Earth, in government property records, on old city directories or even visit in person is just another plus!

Nice finds--continue making me envious!
