I just received an e-mail offer to buy these inks from a collector in the Netherlands. If they were only real and had nice finished lips. Some unscrupulous jackass will grind and polish the tops and try to pass them off for real. Beware ink collectors!!!!![:@]/
Thanks Chris for the input. I did a lot of internet searching last night and found some civil war diggers (diggin' in Virgina) who found one in a Union camp circa 1862. More ammo to get some age respect for these beautiful pieces of glass.
I need your help in dating the period of time teakettle inks where made. Our prominent auction house seem to disagree, jim says 1880 to 1895 and Norm quotes 1830 to 1860.
Therefore to help resolve, please answer this question if you have ever dug one.
What period of bottles were they found...
These national shows are outstanding and wish i could go, just too far to drive. Does anyone know about the New Orleans show which is normally in August? Can anyone confirm there is going to be a New Orleans show.
