    Yup Bruce, I still remember the very day! Matt also dug a couple of the Louis Lowentrout ones which are a bit later than the one you have posted.

    Vulcanized rubber. Same as lice combes made by the Goodyear company in 1851.

    I'm not aware of any. I only collected from 10-15 yrs old over there. I know they had a handful of early open pontiled stuff but it is mostly victorian age for collectors.
