    I love finding that kind of stuff. Puts a personal spin on the way of life back then when your'e digging the dump. I have piles of stuff like that! Very cool!

    Age of Shards? Pontil?

    When I found it, it was about a foot or two deep. Like maybe it had sunken in. I metal detected around it and found some cast iron. I dug down probably another two feet but just rocks and more hard dirt.

    Awesome! Thank you very much! I have dug some but the bottles kinda come out at random. So many rocks in that area its a pain. There is a big hole there not far from an old foundation, could be a privy.

    I found these on the surface yseterday of an area that has produced bottles from the early 1900's. Anyone have a rough age estimate of these shards? Does any one know what type of bottle the shard with the embossing is? Are those pontil marks on the bottoms? Thank you all!

    I found this bottle the other day. It says Bottle Made in Germany on the bottom with 2 rings and the number 20. Anyone have any idea what it once held? Thanks!

    I do feel the lip difference on the inside of the lip. And I think I see a faint pontil mark on the bottom. No seams on it at all.

    I found this digging around an old abandon house in the woods.It's quite large and has a applied lip? Or am I wrong about that?Anyone have any knowledge to age and use?Thanks, Aaron

    Usuing Maps to find old dumps

    I have heard of people using Sanborn and EPA Maps to find and locate old town dumps etc. Anyone ever have any luck with this or know how to go about it?

    Make that the 4 clear ones has a seam that tapers off before the head and the green one the seam goes all the way up.

    I found these 5 bottles towards the back end of a 50's dump.They say Virginia Brewing CO. Roanoke Virginia Registered.They have little bubbles in the glass and one has the seam stop at the head and the others run all the way up.They seem older than the 50's, any one have any information on these...
