This is my very favorite find of all. I don't know what made me start digging in the root of an old dug up tree but that's where this one was found. It's aqua and it was in a very tight spot between roots.
I haven't been able to dig for a while because I got "tennis" elbow. These are a few of my newest additions. Any info on the "Nowlands' Direct Applicator?" I think it's an ink applicator. The Chamberlain's Colic, Cholera and Diarrhea Remedy is still corked with some in it. I looked it up...
I can't help you with what it is, but it reminds me of one I dug up yesterday. The seam stops at the neck and the cork topper is glass. The cork won't come out of mine.
I just found this site about the Tabloid bottle. I thought it was interesting. The term Tabloid was created by combining the words "tablet" and "alkaloid. http://www.wellcome.ac.uk/en/medicineman/timeline2.html
Here's an old Clorox bottle. I think it's from the late 20s.
Here's a picture of some of the other things I found today. One of the medicine bottles says "pour here" with an arrow to the cap! [:D] The other had that brown stuff in it. The other one is probably cologne, because it has a really small opening.
I'll look for that book, too. Thanks! I have given some of the medicine bottles to the pharmacist in town to display. He already had a few. The only one I had with the drugstore name on it was that little Rexall bottle which has something clear in it. Could be water. I found a few things...
Thanks, but I think I'm gonna try the library or Half Price Books first. I thought they might have some older books that would be pretty good. I appreciate it, though. Here's another pic of an old Lysol bottle.
Thank you! I think I'll do some research and make a little journal. I printed the pics of the ones I have and I'd better start documenting some stuff before I get too many more. Do y'all know of any books that identify bottles after 1900? I couldn't find anything very user friendly at...
I don't know why it wouldn't work earlier, but it seems to be working fine now. Thank you for your help with the pixels. Now I can post the pics, but still only one at a time. Here is another one of my favorites. I have heard that there was a "Rawleigh's man" who would deliver the product...
The Honey and Almond Cream is lotion. I thought it was something for cooking when I first found it. That is the only Hind's bottle I've found.
I am having a hard time figuring out how the forum works. I can't reply to anyone unless it comes to me through my e-mail. I wanted to send...
Okay, that is good information to have. I was planning to go the the retirement home in this town and ask the old people about some of these things! Imagine that. [:o] I will be buying a t-shirt now. [:)]
I wear a hunting jacket out there, too. It has great pockets! On my last bottle hunt, I filled all of the pockets and still had to leave several behind. When I came back for them, a raccoon had "marked his claim," if you know what I mean. Anyway, the seam does go through both of my Dr...
I know...I'm braggin... but I have 2 Dr. Caldwell's Syrup Pepsin bottles! Now I need to find the laxative. Yes, I'm hooked. Here's another pic. Let me know what you know. These are little chapstick tins or something. One says Selecto and the other Merry Widow. I can't find anything on the...
I'll try it. It will take me a while to figure out how to do that. I was thinking the Cal-so-Dent is some kind of dental product, but I'm really not sure. I'll send my collection soon. I think it's awesome! [;)]
Here's one more in the mean time.
I tried to send a picture of the whole collection but it said the file is too big. Is there a way to attach more than one pic at a time? I have found about 100 bottles. Here is another I'm interested in the history. It says Cal-So-Dent.
