Put a few drops of penetrating oil or lube around stopper then clamp stopper in wood jaw vise and grab bottle firmly and try wiggling it out by twisting/pulling bottle.
Sounds like you have some good spots to dig. I suggest when you start getting deeper than 4 feet have somebody with you for safety and use a 5 gal bucket and rope to haul dirt out of hole. Post some pics too, we love seeing action shots.

Very interesting. Did you dig it? If not its hard to say what age it is. It has the crude look if an old bottle, yet there are some things that look to new. There are so many decorative bottles made today that look old.provenonce is key in helping authenticate a piece.
