bottles next to foundation--why?

Welcome to the forum Atlas. People used to use anything for fill back then to build up the backfill along foundations. You need to have rain water flowing away from a structure when you build, dirt will settle over time and you don't want water getting down along the foundation,the higher the...

Old time Diggers

I've had some oldtimers, most of which have past on now tell me they used to shoot bottles in dumps with sling-shots when they was kids.[:(] And they used old clay marbles as ammo!

Is this a tooled beer bottle?

I'd say beer of some kind & it is tooled top, I've dug the same in the past in 1910 to 1925 era dumps.

Very nice NORG, for $10 you did good. I have no idea on value though, but with that color and use wear on the bottom it would be a keeper for sure.[:D]

GuntherHess, your house dates to about 1790. You should be able to find multiple privy's on your property. Grid the last 10' of your lot and probe your ass off.[:D] You may have to whip out the 6 or 7 foot probes to get down past the years of development at your house. I guess I should ask if...
