    What's this supposed to be??

RE: Dripolator? What's this supposed to be?? At least one of the pieces posted subsequently to the OP seems like it would be another soap-dish insert, such as I posted on another thread on this board.

    What's this supposed to be??

RE: Dripolator? What's this supposed to be?? Towhead, your piece from the OP appears to be just the top part of a composite teapot. I wonder if the "lid" isn't the lid for the lower, tea-pot part, and not intended for the top part. How does its diameter compare with the part of the top part...

I need to AX you a question..

Rick: Somewhere I have a chunk of wood from near the center of a tree with an embedded hand-wrought iron nail in it. The tree grew completely around the nail. I'll see if I can find it and take a picture. Rich

    Worlds fair ashtray

Generally, beyond a gentle washing to get off loose dirt, etc., it is not a good iead to try to polish ground-dug metal artifacts.

    Found a Stone Tool

Tim's one piece is defintely a mortar - or what we'd call here in the sw a metate. As to the other, without seeing it, I couldn't say.

    Found a Stone Tool

My guess is that it is natural. It appears to be a quartz or chalcedony like material. Will it scratch a piece of plate glass? Rich

    Two unidentified artifacts

Cap: No, the smaller doesn't fit in the hole of the larger. So far, three good suggestions, a coffee/tea strainer, a soap dish insert and a cheese dish insert. I'll have to do a bit of sleuthing to see if I can find any illustrations. I think the holes are too lrge for the coffee/tea...

    Two unidentified artifacts

Finally, here are some fragments of artifact type 2, which I include to show that they weren't all round, but at least one was octagonal.

    Two unidentified artifacts

Here is the next sort of artifact. It is a flat, round plate some 6 inches in diameter, with a large hole in the center, and a series of smaller holes arranged all over it. I recovered about 6 or 7 of these from the well. I would guess that the holes are some sort of device to drain water...

    Two unidentified artifacts

Here are pictures of two different artifact types which I excavated from a dry-well in the basement of the building which had been the Blue Anchor Tavern in Burlington, New Jersey. The well-fill dated to the last half of the 19th century (1850-1899). I have never been able to find any mention...

    Burlington New Jersey bottles

Here are some of the burlington soda bottles of which I am aware. There are several of which I do not yet have drawings. These are preliminary drawings, and haven't been cleaned up by the illustrator.
