    Finally...

DeepSea are we diving the same River? I scored this small case gin a couple of weeks ago at a site I had not dove since 1990. Sometimes we use a ladder for access on steep river banks. Mine is un embossed but the bottle to its left is a local embossed Pharmacy

    Early Summer Finds...

I find pipes too when I dive for bottles, 99% of mine come from rivers but occasionally I get ones from lakes too.

My day at the mud flats with coldwater diver

Thanks sandchip, the variety of finds is amazing, every time the tide goes out fresh stuff is to be eyeballed or dug. I wanted to dive it during high tide until I found out this is one of the City of Portsmouth's sewage overflow spots during high rains, might make for some stinky digging and I...

My first Pot Lid, from the tidal mud flats of New England

Looks like I found a winner from 1875, too bad is what not whole, really would've made my day. It is a Cherry Toothpaste.

My first Pot Lid, from the tidal mud flats of New England

I've been intrigued by these for years especially since I had never recovered one in 30 years of digging, diving and detecting.

Wanting info. On this bottle please.

That is a Codd Soda, the ball is a marble and it sealed the bottle effectively using the rubber stopper in the neck and the expansion of CO2 gas from carbonation, turning the bottle down to pour the contents allowed the marble to move down and let the soda out.

My day at the mud flats with coldwater diver

Had my first experience digging for bottles in a tidal mudflat with coldwater diver last week. Only found one intact bottle and it is a tiny 1-1/4" flask, looks like a perfume or sample bottle with a checkered pattern in the glass. Also recovered a marble, Victorian Brooch and two early necks...

    Great Shard!

I too saw this shard about an hour after Bram did and was equally stunned. I went to the mud flats with Kevin and we gave it the old college try, no more shards but I did get two boots full of seawater.
