old bottles

ccatt, I dig in Erie, Cattaraugus and Alleghany county; I agree, we are lucky ... good digging and the only other digger I have ever ran into while digging was my brother. Don't know about your bottle. Where do you dig in upstate (western?) NY Good Diggin... Ron

Privy diggin'

WoW, I have been only digging dumps lately, but a bottle like that makes me dream of that fluff layer. How thick is the layer, and how far down a 4 foot by 4 foot square stone liner will I have to dig. I am used to tunneling deep into dumps, ( I know ... not real smart) but am leary of...

???is it possible to get sick from digging?

craigc90, BEWARE ... You certainly can "catch something" from digging that 1800's doctors privy ... I caught it the first time I ever dug around an old 1800 celar hole, and still have it today... worse than ever. symptoms: cant sleep, toss and turn dreaming of buried old...

Diginit, Prospector, I agree, a mustard. I dug a sick one similar last year ... although yours is a little more fancy and in better shape. It is embossed "Gulden's New York" RJ

Thanks Alot WYD ... I am new so I collect everything still. My dream collection will be a cathedral foodstuffs (pickles, relish, peppersause, etc ...)prior to 1875 ... Right now, I am partial to locals (western NY) ... Beers and Meds are easy to dig, so I am collecting them. What about you...

The last dig of last year ... indians

My Brother and I found three Iroquois Bottles on our last dig before snow. It was one of the years best digs. We also found 9 other local beers, a whisky, and a med that day. I also found a broken Yellow-amber "electric bitters" that left me in tears...RJ The Iroquois: Aqua: IROQUOIS BEV...

I work in Amherst now ... but am out of place here in dreary erie county ... I need to move back to the so tier ... that (red)neck of the woods has always suited me better ... Do you like it in GA? if you are ever back around Buffalo somtime and want to dig, look me up ... RJ

Here's one for ya Norm

Bob, We only got 8 " last night and maybee another 6 " today in (western NY) Buffalo. I wonder if I would break bottles with a pick ax ? ... I need to dig soon. Norm, I went to college at Alfred, 15 minuets east of Wellsville ... I am originally from Farmersville NY... 30 minuets north...
