Meech and a lot of cans collectors leave bottles behind. We need to share! One man's junk is another man's treasure and all that.
FYI, there are a lot of can collectors who dig (ie dumpers) in Virginia.

It might work on the plaque. It depends on the metal. I have used it to clean rust stains off of bottles as well when I've found bottles that had been laying in a pile of rust.
And cans or no cans, the bottles alone make the dump you found look like a heck of a lot of fun to dig!

The can in the background caught my eye. it looks like a late 40s Schlitz can and should clean up with a mild citric acid bath. Are there more cans there? You'd be surprised how much rust will clean off.
