pot lids etc from this past year
The little thing in the center of the pic is a Nurser top. It went on the Alexander baby bottle, circa 1880s-1900. Probably at one time had some kind of rubber tube or nipple attached to where the hole is.- sem_yeto

Any privy diggers ever seen this before?
I've seen lots of brick-lined square pits go round after 4' or so, probably because they were deep, and round is more stable as MaxBitters stated. (the arch principal=strength). Here are my prized bottles
Sloughduck: What can you tell me about the Pin Money bottle? I dug an example earlier this yr. My impression was that it was some type of food bottle because of the typical shape and size. The name really throws me though.....- sem_yeto

Barberman: Like Caldigr said, you need to order probes from OldWest Bottles. They are safe, and work really well. I have ordered and used his probes for yrs, and can tell you they are the best you can get anywhere. Dont ever try and weld 2 lengths together. You will end-up "gigging"...- sem_yeto

I think if we really get to the bottom of the archs' beef with bottle diggers, it boils down to that the archs want to get paid and make a living doing archeology here in the States, and not have to go to Europe of S America, or Middle East. Cool narrative and pics ! I've dug in the town of Darwin a few times back in the mid 1990's. It IS a creepy place ! I knew a guy that bought an abandoned house there and fixed it up as a second home, or cabin, if you will. There was a bearded guy there then too , that would stare us down...- sem_yeto

H.H.H. Liniment, Help Matt!
RE: H.H.H. Liniment The very first HHH bottles made were circa 1869-early 1870's , have drippy applied-tops, are the larger 9" size, and have medicine missspelled "Medecine" . These are very rare.- sem_yeto

No offense meant to any Indians on the site here. My reference was meant to reflect the Fed Govt's all inclusive Antiquities Act law, enacted to protect Indian sites. Unfortunately this law was painted with such a big brush, that the BLM and Forest Service rangers interpret it to include sites...- sem_yeto

I agree with Lex. Stay out of the parks and public national state and federal lands. The Man will try to accuse you of all kinds of stuff for diggin a hole in those places, everything from destroying an archeological site to hurtin some Indians' feelins !
