    Joe, try wet sanding with a #400-600 then 800 silicon carbide paper (available at auto parts store),then polish in machine , works good on small lip chips also...... Taz

    Thanks all! Been out of town..... I had a great birthday and holiday weekend. I dug a sweet 61 ct topaz in New Hampshire and have been polishing the bottle probe here in the Maine dirt..... nothing good to brag about yet though! Taz

    Nice bottle! You probally wont believe this, but I dug this one over at the "Maplewood" 1800's resort dump in Bethlaham, NH several weeks ago (The Mt Washington hotel is right up the road) bet they are the same type bottle,I suspected it was french... mine is quite crude with a shear top string...

    Ink bottle price needed

    Hi Rick, GP and all...... Hmmmm a today's fair market price ? 25-35 clams. Nice ink but fairly common. Ink's volume #4 by J. Odell has a similar labeled example for 100 dollars but it is the 1865 patent example that French, bought up from Pierce before improving the bottle with a flat base. Taz

    The base measures 6' X 8' It was a pretty good sized bell!
