OK it's weird again. The vol. 1 was printed as a half-sheet and it is the only one with an old date, the rest of the roll is a single newspaper from the 50s. I'm starting to think the vol. 1 dated June 8, 1876 is a tourist reproduction or something; it has the story about Custer's defeat and...
Oh that's weird ... Psychic I guess because it's dated June 8. Maybe I misread the article? The paper is so delicate I'm afraid to try to unroll it for a second look. I'm looking for someone to restore it and will post an update when I get the facts.
Light through the neck, check. Still looks like B B 9. Lit up it's got a few bubbles around the body. BTW, thanks for your help and input. I'm new to bottles and have lots to learn.
Monkey away :) I can try to get better pics tomorrow with natural light ... the lighting in my house is awful and the flash throws a lot of reflection. I'm too stubborn to wear glasses, but you're correct: with my readers on I can see that the 3 outside marks are embossed markings, not pontil...
I've been pulling boxes of old bottles out of my shed (used to be my grandparents' home) for the past couple of weeks, and found a dusty old cardboard tube with a paper rolled up in it. It's too brittle to play with but I was able to see the name, volume number and date of the paper, plus an...
This bottle has seams up both sides of the body that end at the collar, and what I assume is a pontil mark with 3 points surrounding a center point in the center of the base. No markings / embossing anywhere that I can see. It's 8" tall, about 2 1/8" diameter at the base and 1" outside diameter...
I want to think that this is an older bottle due to its color, lack of visible seems, and the irregular thickness of the base, however it has a threaded top and embossing on the base. Is it just brown glass? TIA
I'm planning to post a ton of stuff, but I'm in the middle of a few huge projects that are going to keep me very busy for a few weeks at least. I do have several embossed medicines ... cocoaine anyone? Plus some promising sodas, beers and whiskeys, not to mention boxes of colored jars and some...
