    The questions of how old and what gender everyone is have been asked, how about what everyone does? What does everyone do besides Amateur Archeology? For the record, I’m a mechanical engineer, 27, and a guy.

    Why, oh, why the fascination?

    I started collecting glass because of genealogy. I have ancestral connections to breweries and glass factories. But now I realize I do it because I'm a packrat and I like shinny things.[:D]

    Anybody ever dig where shanties used to be? If they weren't separated into lots and the people lived in shacks packed together close, where'd they put their privies? What kind of stuff do you find? I just wondered if 19th century slums are worth pursuing.
