Just Got Back from Shupp's Grove

Me too. Great to get to a US show I picked a few souvenirs up for the collection plus one I’ve been chasing for a while. Also a few pictures of the show itself.

    Shupps Grove show?

Hi. Sorry this is probably not the right spot for this but I was wondering if anyone has confirmation that the Shupps Grove show will be going ahead. We are hoping to make it to a show and Shupps Grove seems to be the most likely option for us. Thanks Archie

    First pickups over here

That will be the different names our bottles have in Australia (we call ACL bottles Pyros, Drugstores chemists etc) Spun tops are hand tooled it’s just the name we give them. I have a few nice looking ones like the crown seal in the middle of this photo

First bottle hunt in the USA

Finally got out for a proper bottle hunt today. Found a little tip near a creek didn’t have any tools with me but picked these 2 Morgantown cokes up and judging by the large amounts of broken quart milks there may be some good stuff. Any idea on the little White House lid thing?

    First pickups over here

Bought my first two American bottles today. Probably both common as muck (being $5 for the pair) how old is the Indianapolus one? Nice spun top but I don’t have a clue on most US bottles

Creek walking. Tips, tricks and LAWS

Hi everyone we arrived in Morgantown (WV) today and I had a quick walk in a creek. Didn’t find anything but it got me thinking if any of you guys have any tips on how to do it how to find them and more importantly the laws regarding them. Here in Australia the council has taken ownership of the...

    Canadian hutch?

I picked this Canadian hutch (I think it’s a hutch not sure though) at a show the other day but I don’t know anything about it. So if anyone knows something about it such as it’s rarity (cost me $10 so I got it cheap)

    West Virginia

Hi everyone with out trip to Morgantown just over a month away I have been searching for spots to go hunting or bottle shows during our time there. If anyone knows dumps around the area it would be great to have a dig with someone and as I can’t take too much stuff back with me (limited room in...

    Black horse

Yes that’s a lovely beer. One sold for a little over a thousand dollars in an ABCR auction in 2011 so nowadays 3000+ would be likely. we certainly have a few nice beers over here, we have them embossed with owls, mountains, flags, horses, lions, barrels and people. Most are quite rare although...

    Black horse

This is the most iconic and desirable Australian bottle and i finally acquired a repaired one. It dates to the 1850s with a registration date of 1847.

Is ‘mud treading’ commonplace in the USA?

Morgantown West Virginia. I don’t know what the mud is like over there here it tends to be deep and bottles wont move since they were discarded. From what I’ve been told there is a difference between mud-larking and mud-treading the main difference being mud treading involves finding bottles...

Is ‘mud treading’ commonplace in the USA?

Hi everybody. Here in Australia we frequently do something called mud-treading. Which as the name suggests involves jumping into rivers, creeks and even the ocean and stabbing at the mud with a long specially built probe to try and find bottles. Many great things can be found this way and most...
