And here's my fledgling colored blob collection. Only started very recently so it's barely a collection yet haha. Looking for any colors I don't have, ideally in good condition.
Haven't been around here in a while... I'm doin OK by the way! Just poppin' in to say I'm still looking for Essex County bottles like in my signature, but I've also started collecting colored unembossed blobs. Here's a picture of my best recent Essex acquisition
It's pontiled. Anyone who's seen it in person can attest to that. It's just not an "obvious" type of pontil, the glassmaker was very skilled and was able to leave little evidence of it.
I agree with Jim, depends on your OS and what browser you're using. I use Chrome and I have the spell check that does the squigglies like asterisk mentioned. It's nice, it's a lot of trouble to use other kinds.
I see no problem with botlguy's post...? [8|] It's in the same auction as those Gettysburg bottles, free advertising and discussion shouldn't ruffle anyone's feathers...
Thanks guys. And yeah tigue, we are wondering where the rocks came from! They aren't native rocks. These were shale and river rocks I believe, while sandstone is the normal local rock. They were definitely brought in from somewhere else. Why, who knows.
One other bottle worth mentioning... But it's not with me right now, I'll post it in two weeks when I have it back. It's safe to say it's the best bottle of the dig though!
An early bottle from a local druggist, J. P. Scherff of Bloomfield. He started business in 1875, this broken med is probably from less than a decade later.
