Thanks for the help guys. I'll go with that. It's an ornate tumbler. I measured and it only holds 5 ounces so maybe it was for alcoholic or mixed drinks.

Yes the other end is open, sorry about that. I tried to search in google images and nothing similar came up. It could be a tumbler but would be a very small one. It might hold six ounces at best.
  5. What is this beautiful glass piece?

Today while out on a bottle adventure I found something unexpected. Whatever it is I know it has to be good. It was in an area with bottles in the 1900-1950 range, if that helps. Diameter is 2 3/4"...

That's great! I think so too. I believe Anchor Hocking had an old slogan "Everything is better in glass".

Nice little bottle there. I never even heard of that chemical before, but doesn't sound good.

I agree, it really does have a different taste than plastic or metal packaging. Glass seems to be making a slight comeback with the pushback against plastic things.
  10. Mexican Coke and Sprite Bottles

Today at the grocery store I noticed they were selling singles and 4-packs of glass Coke and Sprite bottles. And the wording on them is in Spanish. I wasn't sure what to make of that. I bought a...

    Tiny bottles

The other day I found these three bottles all in one area. They are now the smallest bottles I've ever found. I don't think they can get much smaller than this. Two of them have Owens-Illinois marks...

That sounds like a lot of the areas I find! It's so frustrating that bricks, chunks of cement, and building materials crush most of the good stuff. But there's always a few bottles that survive.

Iggyworf, that's a nice variety of Like bottles! The diet 7Up might be rare since the diet sodas are not drank as much as regular.

The seller must know it's rare and is seeing what someone will pay for it or not pay. Unfortunately until someone else has another one on there, he controls the market.

Small world. I just found two of them recently in PA. Like soda existed from 1962-1969. My bottle is just like this one except mine doesn't say a product of 7-UP. And mine was made by Anchor Hocking....

I've never owned a bottle made by Illinois-Pacific glass so I have no idea what their codes mean. But I can tell you that bottle is listed as rare in Bill Porter's Coca Cola book, and there is one...

That's a very solid bottle! No wonder it has survived this long. I've never seen one like this either. How much does it weigh in comparison to a regular hobbleskirt bottle?

It would be worth more if it was full. $1500 is a price people are paying for some old full whiskey bottles. But people don't throw around that kind of money for something like this.

Nice bottle there! I did just look on Wikepedia and that's basically what it said. This was a diet version made by 7UP. So it was nice that I found both versions of the brand in the same place.

Try it on a bottle that you don't care about first. Be very careful with bleach. It has a tendency to make bright colors look dull, on anything!
