Really wish the base was on it so that I'd know the date. I think it could be from 1920's or 1930's.

    Found a (Howdy) Blue Bird!

Another bottle in a long line of heart-breakers. I came across this embossed Howdy bottle that had Blue Bird and Cherry Blossom on it. I've never seen one like this before.

I do think it's BIM because it has some irregularities with the glass. Here's more photos.

I'll have to see if I can find the spot I left it at. Or at least find another one there like it. I did see more than one. But this one was the most complete. How do you clean rust off the cans?
  9. Didn't expect to find this when looking for bottles

Part of the fun of searching for bottles is sometimes you find something out of the ordinary. I came across this old oil lamp bottle and was surprised it had no damage whatsoever. With that handle it...

Okay I'll keep that in mind. Not that I see many of those. I'm curious what you think of this can. It had a keyhole type of opening on top. I didn't bring it home because condition was bad.

This article hardly says that using rubber cement is the perfect solution. In fact it recommends not using it!

Hard to give any info about worth if we can't see a photo. I hate assuming things but if it's from the 1940's I guess it's embossed? That would be more rare than an ACL version.

Thanks for your thoughts. Hopefully it is something like that, because medicine bottles are way more common. I think I'll hold onto it.

  18. Looking for info on this bottle

I'm hoping to find out more about this bottle which I believe to be from the 1910-1920 decade because of the shape and it is a cork top with some amethyst tinting. Also the texture on it is something...

Yep an Elmer's glue stick. Sometimes the best solution is the simplest one. If you want to needlessly pay more for some museum quality adhesive go ahead. I've used glue sticks on early 1900's bottles...

I recommend using a simple glue stick. No mess and it doesn't go through the labels and ruin them like a liquid would. You can easily wipe off any extra glue from the bottle. Just try to find the...

That is a shame about your bottle collection. Even though the storage facility was not at fault, they should have insurance for such things. I guess it depends what is in the fine print of the rental...
