If the jar had the closure and was in mint condition would be worth around $850-950. In present conditon probably $400-500. You could have the jar cleaned and see how it turns out.

Jim, That is sad news. John was always great to deal jars with. He told me his family had the last ring up phone company in the country. He will be missed. Jerry Ikeda

    Re: Cleaning bale wires

I don't clean the bale wires. If you wanted to would use WD-40 with 0000 steel wool. Then coat with 3 in 1 oil. I like to old look of the original wire bale so don't touch mine. Jerry

    RE: Royal Jar and lid

Yes, the screw band is 2514 and marked "Pat. June 9 63" on the collar. The insert is for 2513. It is fine on your jar, but correct on is a plain insert. A very nice find, congrats!

    RE: Question regarding best practices.

Once the jars are empty and rinsed, I would just soak them overnight in dishwashing soap. If you plan to use them for canning you could then run them in the dishwasher.

    RE: Flaccus Glass Stopper

Yes, yours is a Flaccus stopper. I have one that still has some white gasket material on it. The diameter is around 1 7/16.
