I would think it could have been flint. It is a rare bottle indeed. That is the problem of people trying to induce color, they change otherwise, valuable collectors items into junk.

Dean,Check out his other bottles and you will find many "zapped" bottles for sale. He/she has some that are authentic, again, giving validity to statements that some altered glass brings suspicion to all the items for sale. Beware and don't purchase from these people. Period!!Ever!!!!Joel

I agree with Jim. It is a practice that has hurt the collection hobby. It is most certainly nuked. I have stopped buying from those who sell nuked glass of any sort. Especially fruit jars. Regarding eBay; Someone would need to purchase an item, then complain of its non-authenticity and then, if...

No not an alteration but tooled that way. It is a variant. That particular style did come with a flared lip, though. It is the one with the pillars and I believe a hunter with a staff. I can't even remember the name of the bottle. They say the mind is the first thing to go.Joel

Most of those are condiment jars..... olives, capers, mustard, etc.

Looks like most came from a turn of the century dump! Soda's may be of minimal value. Sorry, I don't know much about soda or beer bottles. Cobalt is a milk of magnesium.Joel

How do I know if I am paying too much?

The most I ever paid for a milk bottle is $50. It was a local and hard to find. The most I ever paid for a bottle is $750. That too was a local, a poison. It was pristine, with label and part of the Greer Collection. Butterfly effect? Top dollar, I know. It probably won't ever see that level of...
