    Need some help

A friend sent me these photos for my opinion. Judging only by the pictures I guess 1840's is safe enough but I'm also thinking American, it's the shape of decanter that makes me think that. If it's American it would almost certainly be from the New England I believe. What's the opinion here...

    Plumbs

Ran up on this early crock and like the jug know nothing about the name or where to start. Nice early form. [attachment=1097c.jpg][attachment=Plumb.jpg][attachment=1097b.jpg]

    A.J. Weeks stone jug

Many thanks Cows ~ from what I read it appears it was made for the chemical trade about the turn of the century. Also picked up on a few new research tools.

    A.J. Weeks stone jug

I came across this jug and it's the first one I've seen, can anyone here tell me about them. (Just b/c it's the first one I've seen doesn't mean much). It's stenciled on the top "Pat App'd For A.J. Weeks, Akron OH." Base reads "Mfg. by A.J. Weeks, Akron, OH", s tands about 11 inches...

    Been a spell Update

Re: Been a spell Changed pictures at the start of the thread. The 1st is the old jail where the NKHS is housed, second picture is the "main" road that leads to a cut road (3rd pic) I'm thinking was the site of the well.

    Been a spell Update

Re: Been a spell I just got back in from my road trip, what a great day! The first time I ever enjoyed spending time in jail (that's where the New Kent Historical Society is located) such a great group of people. I came back loaded with fresh materials and new leads, can't hardly wait to start...

    Been a spell Update

Re: Been a spell I didn't get to make my trip this week so I'm shooting for Monday. As soon as I figure out to how insert pictures I have a few shots of where I'm heading to share. I have a MacGills Stronia Mineral Water I picked up a few years back that I learned probaly dates between 1890 and...

    Been a spell Update

Re: Been a spell God willing and my cough doesn't rise I hope to be the road to New Kent Court House, New Kent County Virginia tomorrow morning. I've done about as much online as I can for now without at least a new lead or two. I've studied a CW era map, 1863 confederate I think it was, the...

    Been a spell Update

Re: Been a spell Life has been interesting.I agree encountering isn't near as nice as owning, the two men are digging an artisian well and this bottle is the earliest verison I know of, dates between 1877 and 188? This example was dug this at the home place of the first owner of Belmont Lithia...

    Been a spell Update

R.T. Lacy had a side business in Talleysville, Va. (New Kent, Co.) which was named Baltimore Store. I was told he choose this name because the majority of his goods were bought in Baltimore and brought down by river boat to White House Landing. Talleysville was once a small collection of houses...

    buffalo lithia water bottle

Thanks for message, I'm still hanging round didn't realize I hadn't dropped in for a spell. I've been involved in my second leg of the project with the Girls's. This bottle is third or maybe fourth generation of Goode's bottling production, there are two known variations of this example. Looks...

    Gardiner's Compound Boston

Almost my first thoughts. 1. It looked too good. 2. The label shows a bottle and a glass. What I am having a problem resolving is the paper of the label, not newsprint or any other paper I am used to seeing. There is a shadow imprint I can't make out. The edges are ragged not neatly clipped...

    Gardiner's Compound Boston

Has anyone heard or seen of this in a stoneware ointment type jar? I just picked one up very late last night from an estate so no picture yet. Stands just shy of 4 inches tall, nedium red/brown glaze, super label.

    MacGills Baltimore Co. Md.

Have you heard or seen other water's promoting "Strontia"? That caught my eye and I thought it curious it was embossed “Baltimore Co., MD†I’m just used to seeing Baltimore, Md.

    MacGills Baltimore Co. Md.

I passed back through the town late today and made my offer, the seller said he had a better offer so I moved along. Thanks for the replies, here's a pic I took before I left. The bottle was older than I first thought, I think closer to 1880's.

    MacGills Baltimore Co. Md.

I've a few spare minutes and just found this mention in Google books: The only mineral spring of Maryland reporting sales of the water is Strontia mineral spring Brooklandville Baltimore county. I'm thinking the book is late 1880's.

    MacGills Baltimore Co. Md.

Now that's a pleasant surprise, I checked the Bay but couldn't find any listings. It'll be next week or maybe the week after before I find myself in that area again. Condition wise it needed washing but I'm sure it has a light over all stain, hard to determine with all the surface dirt. The only...
