Oldmill.. your bottle is listed as 161.5 in the Ring/Ham book. Although it's not listed as pontiled. We definitely have the rarer version. Yours is only the second pontiled one that I've seen, in addition to mine. I think the guy who wrote the article in AB&GC has the smooth based version. I...

Ok, so does anyone know why this sold for so much? Was it the label? Or was it because it's a rare misspelled version of this bottle (C-158)- or combination of both?
I think this is the highest...
On a side note, the house and all of the outbuildings of E.R. Clarke's bitters business burned to the ground in a fire around 1875. I have a newspaper clipping somewhere, which gives more details. I'll try to post that as well.
Here's an interesting article written by one of E.R. Clarke's relatives for the Sharon MA historical society. I'm also enclosing a picture of the bottles that they have.
Guess I can only post one pic per post. Still looking for a better version of a Clarke's bottle with full label (older man version) if anyone knows of any for sale.
So I was checking online for more additions to my Clarke's Bitters collection, and I came across an ad for a labeled Clarke's bottle in Manchester, NH. I wasn't getting too excited though, because I didn't think it would be in my price range (the last one of these sold for over $600, if I'm not...
Sorry to give you bad news, but I was told by more than a few people that mine was a mexican reproduction from the 1950's. I even took it to a bottle show, and the guy said the same thing, right away. It looks the exact same as yours.
Kungfufighter.. can you send me a link to other pics such as mine? What makes you so sure? It just seems so wobbly, and mishapen, that it had to be old. What do you look for?
Yeah, I was wondering the same thing about having no base wear at all. It still seems really old to me though. There are numerous potstones still in the glass, and some content stain at the bottom. Can this all be faked? I'll post more pics if it would help anyone. Thanks
Was wondering if anyone can tell me about this large bottle I picked up this morning. It's about 11 inches high, and 5 inches wide. It has a weird attached top. I've never seen it done this way. It's also pontiled, and has a couple of green striations running through the glass. It's also pretty...
Can anyone tell me the age of this 3 and a half inch cream pitcher? I just picked it up at my grandparents house. Pretty sure it has some age to it. Anyway to tell by the form or glass? Thanks for any info.
Don't know if you saw this or not, but it looks like the same bottle as yours.

I'm looking for a Clarke's Sherry Wine Bitters Bottle with intact label. I'd rather have the later version with him as an older man , balding and long beard.
