I think this has to be some common product because I took 11 out of the same dig area so far but I can't find the use of it. I guess iodine or Merthiolate... Does anyone know what the heck it is? Any help would be appreciated. So far all I have is that the 3 lug closure was used from midish 1800's.
Well things are thawing out in Maine and my son and i hiked along the river poking around for bottles etc for 6 hours Sunday. This was our most interesting find and if what I'm reading is correct it's between 177 and 183 years old? Does that sound right? It's a bit larger around than a quarter...
these were in a whitish chunk stacked like coins would be. in the dirt near them there were bottles like sawyer's crystal blueing, and medicine type bottles. i'm completely stumped. they're very thin and pliable. more silvery on one side kinda whitish on the other.
i'm not sure which is sicker me or the bottle. i cannot stop digging in the dirt.
i don't think i can stand to wash it. it's coming off in flakes so i wanted to capture it.
