    Montreal B & G Co

This firm tried its best to supply Montreal's sizeable drink trade. They were a bug squashed by bigger players in Canada's glass industry.

    Ebay Seller scam?

For me Ebay has become frustrating and a lot of searching work, but I still find really good stuff for my collection. Though I must confess that are much better online venues for our hobby.

    Soo Falls Brewing Co

This brewery was operated by Casimir Kocot (roughly pronounced Kah-zot), a Russian-Pole who first emigrated to the United States where he involved himself in the brewing industry. I figure that his American experience is what saw him use the Baltimore Loop Seal (another of William Painter's...

Need help identifying a purple bottle.

Likely this bottle came up with the thousands and thouands Toronto's digging community brought to market in the 1990s and early 2000s. A few of these diggers took common bottles from the period around 1890 to 1920 and irradiated them to enhance amethyst and amber hues. I'd say that this bottle...

Canadian Eatables Limited soda bottle - Toronto Ontario

I post my best information on FB bottle groups. Not odd at all for a crown cap "soda water" bottle to be used for non-soda water applications. Think of all those Canadian ketchups and maple syrups. The firm was set up as a scam by known scam artists, despite one of them being a former postmaster.

Canadian Eatables Limited soda bottle - Toronto Ontario

Mostly focused on canned meat products. Presumably such bottles were for meat extracts, gravies, etc.

Comprehensive Guide to all Glass Vernor’s Bottles

Les Morris Beverages Ltd., Sarnia, Ontario had this quart. Early in my collecting I'd occasionally call Les Morris and ask about his experiences as a pop bottler. I asked him specifically about this bottle, and he noted that he got taken in by a glassworks salesman and ordered a whack of these...

shard from a Hooflands Consumption Cure bottle

All Hoofland's products show up in Canada, particularly Ontario, because a Toronto-based firm imported the line from Philadelphia.

    O'Keefe OK Soda Dispenser Bottle?

Canadian prohibition was a funny beast. In fact, the manufacture of beverage alcohol has only been outlawed in Canada during the War of 1812. Starting in the mid-1910s, Canadian provinces began outlawing the sale of beverage alcohol. Constitutionally speaking, the federal government had (still...

Fletcher Manufacturing co Toronto - ceramic item

Possibly the liner for Fletcher's hot drinks appliances? From 1922 . . .

Fletcher Manufacturing co Toronto - ceramic item

Toronto's Fletcher Mfg. also made soda fountains and I think this is part of a fountain, maybe for holding/channelling syrups.

    Duncan E. Campbell, Victoria, B.C., circa 1910.

    Ya hate to see it

I agree. Based on my experiences, postal services in Canada, the U.S.A., Great Britain, and Ireland do a great job because of their staff. I tip my hat.

    Ya hate to see it

Most of my hundreds and hundreds of shipping experiences have been good. Two notable failures though. One guy was too lazy to find a big enough box and let the neck of a quart soda stick out the top (well, it was covered by the box's flap). Needless to say, the neck didn't survive. More...

    Druggist bottles

Other Canadian druggist bottles I have with famous connections include bottles from Nellie McClung's husband, W.O. Mitchell's father, Syl Apps' father, brothers of provincial premiers, etc. Sorry for the esoteric Canadianisms. I also enjoy finding bottles from, say, three different brothers who...

    Druggist bottles

Dr. F.X. Valade. His report that Riel was, well, insane, to "Sir" John A. was ordered altered in the official record by the prime minister himself. He remarked to a colleague, whose name I can't recall right now, but I'm sure it was a cabinet minister, that Valade wouldn't dare say a word...
