    Chero-Cola bottle question

The terms, "This Bottle Never Sold" indicates the bottle is the property of the local bottler and no one else. You were expected to return the bottle for re-use. The plan did not work out because everyone forgot to return the bottles! So, then they began charging a deposit cost. That worked...

I need help indentifying an unusual bottle....Thanks!

The black glass alone would indicate a poison, or other container of a dangerous content. But, the sparkles may negate all of this! This may be a true mystery. --Michael Elling, Sharon, Tennessee

    Moxie Mystery ACL Bottle

Thx Bob; I would like to add that the Swankyswig designer, KRAFT FOODS of Chicago also began using ACL 5 oz. glass containers in December 1932. Various flavors of Kraft Cheese Spread were put into reuseable glasses from that time to the present (2024). Swankyswig collectors are also...

Has anyone seen the bottles in this Nehi/RC poster before?

Thx Hunter; NEHI/RC family-size bottles were not originated by the franchise. This idea was presented first by the glass factories. After federal sugar rationing ended from the Second World War, family-sized bottles really caught on. Prewar examples are not plentiful, but the challenge to...

ROYAL CROWN COLA BOTTLE / GLENSHAW GLASS CO.

Thx Bob; It is important to remember that NEHI's Par-T-Pak flavors were initially issued for alcoholic mixers after repeal of Prohibition in 1933. It was not until later that Par-T-Pak became better known as, "family beverages" with the popularity of the 24 to 32 oz. quart bottle drinks. The...

ROYAL CROWN COLA BOTTLE / GLENSHAW GLASS CO.

Hi Bob; I have also heard at the bottle shows, that the number is really a franchise contract number to keep all the bottles consistent to the factory standard. So for a certain brand, the factory standard was kept unchanged throughout the system. --Cordially, MikeEin10C

ROYAL CROWN COLA BOTTLE / GLENSHAW GLASS CO.

Thx Bob; When I was a little boy growing up in the 1940s, the men in the barber shop showed me an RC Cola pyramid bottle similar to yours. They told me to shut one eye and look at the front label with the other eye half shut. Then, they said that the yellow lower portion of the label is a real...

ROYAL CROWN COLA BOTTLE / GLENSHAW GLASS CO.

Thx Bob; I had to reboot my system in order to enter my reply. --Cordially, Michael Elling, Sharon, Tennessee

ROYAL CROWN COLA BOTTLE / GLENSHAW GLASS CO.

Thx Bob; In my collection (begun in 1984), I have a 1934 embossed bottle collectors call, "carbonated crown." and the terms "Royal Crown Beverages," instead of RC Cola. The all-embossed design is very significant with the main device a king's crown with stylized carbonation bubbles radiating...

Unexpected early find in the forrest near my house!

The "SC" bottom mark reminds me of Scottish Central Glass Works, LTD., of Alloa, Clackmannanshire, Scotland, but I do not know when they were in operation.

    Orange Crush bottle help

The heraldry of Crushie with arms spread is referred to as "Crushie expectant." Were he full, the reflection would be on the customer being happy. Were he empty, the reflection would be the customer being desirous of returning the item for exchange.

8 bubble 7up with ribbed neck

For the record, the purpose of the "beehive rings" is to hold firm the glass bottle in a child's hand. Children dropping glass soda bottles was a constant hazard, and injuries were endless. I survived many cuts from shards and embedded broken bottles in the muds of old cow ponds growing up...

Cant find info Date Great soda

QUOTE="GLASSHOPPER55, post: 732377, member: 21970"] That carton and design is definately early 60s all day long. I agree with Grasshopper, it is the early 1960 time with Jaqueline Kennedy in the White House. Note the cut of the hem and sleeve, and especially the "Jackie Look" hairstyle. She...

    How much is too much?

I paid $10.00 once for a $100.00 Chero-Cola soda bottle on eBay. But that was because the seller did not understand the rarity of what he had. Is it ethical to take advantage of a someone like that? Or should you inform him of his error?

    Coke and nehi bottles

In my NEHI stocking bottle collection, my Steubenville bottle is dated 1942, and is the full size 9 fluid ounces bottle. That indicates the bottler had customers contributing to the war effort which allowed him to receive extra sugar rationing. --Mike Elling, Sharon, Tennessee
