    Cobalt "Handyside's Consumption Cure"

After further research, this is an English bottle and came in aqua, lt green, olive amber in various shapes and sizes and is not uncommon across the pond though I found no references to cobalt. There is a book in print on George Handyside. ". . . it was in Newcastle that George’s third and...

    Cobalt "Handyside's Consumption Cure"

Based on the embossing ("E" almost runs off bottle) I would say this is an early bottle just missing the pontil rod. It is not listed in either of Agee's books. John Wolf has a 10 3/4" olive amber variant on his want list. I would consider this a very desirable bottle.

Two bottles--one is out of my league. Help?

My mother once collected these as they come in a variety of colors and could be picked up for $10. She had one in cobalt with partial contents and a label for "hand lotion". I've seen them in shades of amber, green and blue. Banjo shapes are also available.

    Possible Decco Soda

Perhaps the Five-O was anticipating Hawaii as the 50th state in '59. Bet Steve McGarrett drank this while Dan-O was booking some thug. Ha ha.

    Need some help

This is a pretty complex design (mold, lip, rings, stopper) to be Continental for that time period and the color does not seem consistent. My guess would be European from a later date, though not my area of "expertise" and I use that term very loosely.

    Birmingham Bottlinghouse

It is a Pittsburgh bottle and fairly common though most say "Pittsburgh, PA", perhaps this is prior to Pittsburgh's annexation of Birmingham in 1872, now known as South Side of Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh also annexed Allegheny, Pa in 1907 now known as North Side. There were many glass houses in...

    Weight rating for glass shelves?

Thanks Hanna, will check out the website. Unfortunately I can't use your engineered solution as one case is glass front, the other provides no support once doors are open (no vertical ribs) Good point Eric and Bill, my concern was the glass (it is original tempered) . . . never thought about...

    Weight rating for glass shelves?

Picked up a pair of 2nd hand display cabinets recently. Plan to fill with sodas, beers and hutches. Anyone happen to know the weight rating for the glass shelves? They measure 38"x11 1/2"x3/16" and have a groove cut for plates, supported at 4 corners. Hate to see everything end up on the...

    Fun dig!

The cigar could be from Wm Foust Distillery, Glen Rock (York Co), Pa (1840-1934) as they were known to produce 2 sizes (label only) as well as bananas, pretzels, clams, potatoes, turkeys, pig, fish, etc . . . There may be a cucumber on eBay now . . . Foust was known for producing figural whiskey...

It works for me !!! cleaning bottles !!

I added a tablespoon of playsand to the mix and achieved slightly better results on the interior however the exterior is a different story. I was intrigued enough to start working with some better bottles. I apologize I'm doing all my work in the basement and garage neither of which have...

Need help with IP Kentucky dug Bottle

The inverted taper is similar to alot of early Pittsburgh sodas but the glass appears much thinner than most sodas, it also appears larger than a soda. Here is a pic from Tod's site . . . http://www.sodasandbeers.com
