So sorry about your loss Privvy. I've had dogs most of my life and it is never easy to lose one. I agree with an earlier comment about getting another dog, maybe not now, maybe not next week, but whenever you are ready. I happen to have a few puppies here ranging from 8 weeks to 11 months and...
Hey everyone, I've been collecting bottles for nearly forty years, been to a few shows, sales, auctions, etc., but I have yet to see only a few corkscrews. With all the bottles produced with cork tops, you would think that the dumps, privies, and antique shops would be loaded with them. Is...
Alrighty Jim,,,,,I'll wait for your reply, providing your vision is OK. HA
Anna, I thought maybe because it has a triangular shape that it might be a poison as it would "feel different" in the dark, but that's just a guess. Thanks for your replies
Hey everyone,
Wondering if this is a poison or not. Very light green in color and 5' tall with "438" on bottom. If not a poison, then what could it be ?
Thanks, Fred
Hey everyone,
I have come across a few "Ale & Quail Beverage" bottles, 7 oz. size, with green and white ACL. Also marked on the reverse "Property of the Coca-Cola Bottling Co. of Bridgeton, Bridgeton, N.J." I don't collect ACL's, but I'm willing to see that they find a home of a collector...
Hi everyone,
I picked up this little 6 sided, teal colored bottle at an antique shop for $4. Along with the lop-sided neck, it has a smooth bottom and stands 2 3/4" tall, flat to flat distance of 1 1/2", and a fairly thick lip. Looks to me like an unguent or salve container. Any other...
Hey Digger,
If you look on page 141 of the 5th edition of Michael Polak's "Bottles Identification & Price Guide", you'll see a picture of the Hair Restorer bottle listed for $375-400. I have two of them myself and would gladly sell them for half that price ! Maybe a call to Michael is...
Hey Jim,
It appears to me to be a "catch jar" for an old wall mounted coffee grinder. Beans were in a larger container on top and the smaller jar caught the ground coffee. Maybe a little more research on grinders might turn up a match with the embossing on the bottom.
Fred
Hey Pam,
My wife collects crocks ( I collect bottles) and she had a few of the larger "kraut crocks" sitting around gathering dust. I decided to make them more useful by using a few 2x10's, 2x8's, whatever I had in the shop, and convert them into nice end tables. There is an inner circle...
Hey Charlie,
The bottom ( or body ) to this bottle was either acid etched or frosted. The total height would have been around 5" or so, but I remember little else about it other than it was extremely thin and fragile. It was broken during a move even though it was wrapped in newspaper.
Hey everyone,
I have the top to a Black figural bottle that I really don't need and would be willing to see if I can find a needy home for it. If you can use this to add to or finish an incomplete bottle, please let me know. Height is 1 3/8" with an opening of approx. 9/16" and looks...
Hey Tom,
Sorry it took so long to answer, but I was having trouble logging in. I live 14 miles east from Williamsport (Hughesville) and I haven't been digging for ages, but would like to start again, when I get the time. I may get a chance to go to the county courthouse and look at the...
Hey Steve, if you're ever up this way, gvie me notice and maybe we'll be able to do a little digging or whatever. I'm trying to get some Sanborn maps for my hometown and a few of the surrounding areas,,,,,,,could be fun !
