My second prized possession is this Homer Laughlin Bowl and Pitcher. Belonged to my grandmother. I've read that the Lion and Eagle emblem on the bottom was not used after 1900.
This heavy glass rolling pin belonged to my mother. I'm surprised it doesn't have cracks in it, as every time my brother and I saw her using it, which was often, we asked "what was it you bought in that?" She never hit us over the head with it although we always asked. During the war, when all...
Thank you! After reading more about in online, and seeing it's made by the Acme White Lead & Color???.. Not sure I'd want to buy any today. grin. Appears it was the 'latest and greatest' paint available in the late 1800s and early 1900's. Most likely the 'old' paint that is so dangerous now...
After reading your post about Electrolysis, something jogged my aging old memory about cleaning metal. Involved aluminum foil. So I use an old Corning Ware casserole dish, alum. foil, and salt and baking soda. Brought it to a boil and laid in the lead piece, hoping for the best. Took about three...

Looking through some dusty old bottles we dug 40 years ago, I found this. Now, can someone tell me how to clean and ink it safely so I can figure out what it says? I can read 'For Sale' at the bottom, and sort of figured out Neal's (something) in the larger print in the center. Looks like a rust...
Neat pic of the box! I'd never seen or heard of these before and was sort of amazed when I dug them 40 years ago. At an Antiques & Collectables show in Spokane, WA, I tried to describe them to a person who was displaying a lot of jars, and he couldn't understand my description, or had never seen...
Have two of these Economy jars. Both say Kerr Glass MFC CO Portland, Ore. on the bottom. One says Patented though the middle of the bottom, and the banner under Economy only has two lines. Embossing is faint on that one.
A batch of commons.

All going to the local Farmer's Market this Saturday. I'm cleaning house!

2. Scotts Emulsion Cod Liver Oil with Lime and Soda (I have a smaller one of these also, with the metal lid and some contents. Not opening that without a Haz-Mat crew standing by! [:'(])
