I acquired a HG Mason's Patent shoulder seal in a nice SCA color. Very lavendar. I know it's RB 1756 but that doesn't list a HG Clear at all. 1756-1 is a HG Clear Mason's Patent but mine doesn't have the Mason's variant it is talking about. I wonder why 1756 doesn't list a half gallon. And...
I haven't been on here in a while, but just had to post my estate auction find today as no one else in my house is as excited as I am. It wasn't advertised as the auctioneer didn't know what he had. Thought for a while I might get it under $50, but someone caught on and I had to pay a little...
that's exactly what the lid looked like on the one I saw. I didn't know how to describe it other than rough. But the lip was smooth. Thanks for the picture.
No I didn't take a picture. I didn't need to really, I know it was a reproduction.
Makes me sad really. This auctioneer I would consider a friend, I've gone to his auctions for years and I never thought he would be dishonest. I am hoping I can give him the benefit of the doubt, and he was...
I saw a Trademark Lightning jar at a local auction. The auctioneer told me it would be there, knowing I would be interested.
I was 99.9% sure it was a reproduction. It was dark amber, said Putnam 227 on the bottom, I didn't like the way the bottom looked either. Then the lid itself was...
RE: Modern amber bottle base
Makes sense, because this was an estate auction of a veterinarian. I'll take another pic in the daylight. I collect fruit jars, but this bottle intrigued me.
What can you tell me about this bottle/jar? I got it in a box today at an auction. It's obviously a modern jar with the mold seam going through the lip. But the base looks similiar to a pontil mark. It's 10 inches tall, and doesn't have any embossing on it. There are no swirls in the glass...
I have quite a few that I've gotten in Iowa and they are on ebay all the time, I just don't want to pay too much for them. I would love to find something scarce.
Thanks for the info, that's more than I had before. My maiden name is McDonald and I'm in Iowa so we plan on taking a trip to MN and check out some shops there to see if they have anything else on them.

Not sure if I should post this here, if it should be in general just let me know. I found both these bottles buried in the creek on our property. Not really dug anything yet. They were found in different places so I have two spots to dig when it gets warm or thawed. I know the Leisy isn't...
I have most of the 2148/9 McDonald jars, not the McDonald Bros. though ;) I know they were Ball made, but do you have any other information as to who they were made for or what time frame? I've only read that they were made in Minnesota.
I think I need to be in an eBay Anonymous group. (But no, I didn't bid on the $300 Ball pint jars). I find myself on it all the time.
1. I've bid too much on good jars, even after I said I was past my limit
2. I've paid too much for a common jar, more than it's worth
3. I've fibbed...
