    Finally Got a Perfection Gingerale!

Few people have b/c the owner of the company, inventor of Bromo-seltzer, made the Perfection Gingerale (and made the bottles as well b/c he owned Maryland Glass Co.) and it was sold only at Brooklandwood Springs (his property/business as well). This was all in Baltimore. I have talked with...

    Finally Got a Perfection Gingerale!

Ever since 2012 I have had ebay email for any Perfection Gingerale bottle posted. Until last week 3 1/2 had been put on there and I missed them. After 12 years of waiting, I finally got one. I have posted info on the cobalt blue Citro bottles that are the little brother of these very rare...

    Is This A Fake/Altered Insulator?

Some background: I am the National Insulator Research and Education Chairman. I have dealt with a lot of irradiated insulators and given a seminar concerning it. As part of the NIA research I used a gamma radiation source at Penn State to deliberately alter different insulators to identify...

Set of 4 Bromo Seltzer Embossed TORONTO, ONT

I know you said you have the smaller one, but do you see the larger ones? I wish I lived close to the border like I used to so I could go looking in antique shops etc. I would like to see if I could find cork tops of the larger ones. I have to wonder who made these? Maryland Glass made all...

Set of 4 Bromo Seltzer Embossed TORONTO, ONT

Do you remember much about the piece. Was it embossed right side up (I assume). Some of the ones for the displays are embossed upside down. I assume, if you could make it out, Baltimore? The guy to ask would be Ernie Dimler. His collection of Brom o seltzer bottles and anything having to do...

Set of 4 Bromo Seltzer Embossed TORONTO, ONT

A quart Bromo?! I just measured and my largest (both Balitmore and Toronto bottles) are 12 Oz. liquid capacity. The Balitmore bottle fits the top of the dispenser and looks , to the eye, the same size, but the Toronto one will not fit all the way down onto the unit.

Set of 4 Bromo Seltzer Embossed TORONTO, ONT

Thanks for this info. I have another Canadian friend who also told me he has only seen one of the larger bottles labeled Toronto. Funny thing is the Canadian Toronto bottle will not fit the top of the dispenser. It goes down over the rubber "cone" (hole in the center of the cone) that is on...

Set of 4 Bromo Seltzer Embossed TORONTO, ONT

I have chronic migraines, so what better excuse to put more cobalt blue on the shelves and collect Bromo Seltzer stuff? I saw a Bromo Seltzer display online a few years ago and Had to have that huge chunk of cobalt glass but cheated the system a little b/c I bought mine a part at a time...

Citro Soda Bottle cobalt Looking to find how many molds - what is yours?

@ BrianP, Sorry I did not see your post until today. Email notification must have been filed in the junk folder for some reason? Thanks for sharing. I once dug shards to 2 or 3 of these and wishing I had kept them just to see if they were numbers I do not have.

What can I use to make the embossing stand out and not disappear over time?

@UncleBruce: Wow - I am very appreciative of this great set of detailed instructions! At present the one I want to highlight is Buffalo Lithia Water I recently got and was thinking only the lettering, but now you have me thinking I could try the seated woman effigy as well. In the past I have...

What can I use to make the embossing stand out and not disappear over time?

On some bottles I have traced the lettering with a Sharpie. Over time I note the ink/marker disappears and the embossing is like it was originally. Can anyone here recommend a type of marker that will not fade with time?

    Is This A Fake/Altered Insulator?

Please post here so we can all benefit from the knowledge! If I was still doing insulators I would post before and after.

    Is This A Fake/Altered Insulator?

I would guess they would change back, but have never done it myself. Since the insulators I experimented were green glass and predate WWI, I would assume bottles of that era should also change back. Most insulators would turn a brownish-yuck-olive color.

    Is This A Fake/Altered Insulator?

I have done irradiation work/research for the National Insulator Association and once gave a seminar on irradiated insulators. I have handled many and reverted many to their original color through a couple different means. Typically if an insulator turns purple fro gamma radiation it will be a...

Found this insulator, I need help with identification.

Since these are listed only as having a mold line over the dome (MLOD), they would most likely have been made prior to 1894 when Brookfield switched to using three piece molds on its new Kribs press.

    Help with insulator

CD 145 Aqua Insulator with a D on top and B on each side.

I am researching a second reference book on the Brookfield Glass Company (Bushwick Glass Works). This style is not the size of the later B CD145s made at their Old Bridge, NJ plant starting in 1906. This style was made at the Brooklyn plant sometime most likely after 1897. It appears in...
