Hop-Cel Nerve Blood & Brain Tonic

I store my larger bottles in those liqour store boxes with the 12 cardboard compartments, They're safe & the boxes stack well...and one room has become loaded with them. After a while, I forget what is where...and sometimes it's a real treat to open a box I haven't seen in a long while, & get...

Owens bottles question for the experts

I know about Owens marks, & how they date a bottle to the first ABM machines etc. but I have a bottle with "Owens" embossed on the bottom, inside a large Owens mark, and now this guy that I know is trying to tell me that some early Owens bottles were embossed this way? Is this true? Never seen...

    Green Calisaya Bitters

I think I maybe scored on this one. I found one listed in amber, same size & embossing..for $125 in an 8 year old Kovels or Warman's...one or the other. No listing for a green example. I'd think green would be rarer than amber, but I don't know. Nice tooled bottle is 8" tall by 4-1/4" by...

    Martini Cocktail Green Bottle

Traded for this bottle, just wondering if anyone knows it's vintage & if it has any value beyond the $1 I gave for it. It's nicely embossed, "Per Martini Cocktail Usate Martini Vermouth..For Martini Cocktail Use Martini Vermouth" It's 12-1/2" tall with a deeply indented bottom. Mold seams run...

    Patience Rewarded

I've known Les for about 20 years. We didn't always used to get along, but now he's 85...and I'm 53....time has mellowed us both out, and we get along fine. A couple years ago I went to him with some stamps, that's his addiction...and I spotted this beauty, on a back shelf in his shack. I...

    One more...

This beer (?) bottle doesn't look real old, but it's kinda different & I've never seen one before. It's 9-1/2" tall, crown top, and the mold seams stop right at the bottom of the top. On the bottom is embossed "Hollywood Corporation" and "Dry" with a 5-pointed star. Could it be wine instead?

    And again...

This one didn't clean up as well, but it's pretty neat anyway. 8-3/4" tall aqua tooled top embossed "Dr.McLean's Strengthening Cordial & Blood Purifier"

    Another

Another applied top, this one is embossed on the bottom with "Franz Josef Bitterouelle". Not positive about that last word. 9" tall, and a nice light green color. A bitters?

    some dump finds

Here's one of the applied tops I managed to dig from under that mostly burned dump I was working. It's 9-1/2" tall, no embossing, with a dished in bottom. Shaped sort of like a gin bottle, but I haven't seen any in amber...a whiskey? bitters?

    Whatzit?

I'm a sucker for freeblown pontiled pieces, regardless the age. I don't think this is pre-1900, but I sure don't know for certain. I just liked it, and I paid $30 for it. I've seen these before in clear glass & aqua, from Italy, but they were much more gracile & smaller in size. It's supposed...

    Finally struck gold

I've been hunting for an old dumpsite on a pioneer road over the central Sierra Nevada. Yesterday I finally hit gold, and here's the first real goodie I pulled out. It's a Carnrick's Liquid Peptonoids in a cool olive green. It was in a layer of some kind of old bedding material, and almost...

    Old Applied Top Flask

This is a flask I've had for a long time, but have never learned anything about. I got it because it was an applied top, the color was great, and it was only $5. It's not pontiled, it has a concave circular depression on the bottom, and mold lines up the sides that end at the base of the neck...

Cleaning my way, what the heck

Hey, I'm just a country boy I gotta make do with what's on hand. In the spirit of Edison, I have tried most everything imaginable... at one time or another, trying to clean up dug/dirty bottles. Carburetor cleaner works great, too great in fact. Same thing with Berryman's B12 Chemtool. Paint...

    Bottle?Vase?Art Glass?

I got this piece a few years ago at an estate sale. I don't know what to call it, or what category it fits in, so I'm posting it here where I'm sure it belongs at least as a post-1900 piece of glass. It's 9-3/4" tall and 3-1/2" diameter at the base. This is a considerable hunk of glass, it...

    Great Bear Spring

Recently got this 5 pint, aqua bottle embossed "Great Bear Spring Company" and "Five Pints, This bottle is loaned & never sold" it's 11-1/2" tall & 5" diameter. The mold line goes through the lip, but the glass is very crude & full of irregularities & bubbles. I saw a large demijohn with...

    C.Bartels Stockton Bottle

Got this bottle a while back, and haven't had much luck so far....finding anything about it. Two people told me they have seen one before, so I guess it isn't rare. Light aqua crown-top, looks like a 3-piece mold & tooled top. Pretty crude with lots of twist in neck & bubbles throughout...

    Sure-Seal Vase Form Pickle Jar

Howdy all, this is my first post, although I have been lurking for a while. Great site for checking out what is out there. I thought I would start my posts here by presenting my pride & joy, and the biggest mystery in my collection. I've been a bottle nut for a few years, and living in the...
