My dug civil war bottle collection (pic heavy)

Thanks! There's a couple different digs here, since I'm new to the forum I put a couple of old hunts together in one thread :). Our huts aren't nearly as loaded as a typical privy, and much of it is broken. Getting one or two whole bottles is a good one, although of course there are exceptions...

My dug civil war bottle collection (pic heavy)

That's exactly right! This is a pretty bland collection from a collector standpoint. Some older glass, but mostly common and nothing to write home about (except maybe the Pottsville soda). And the reconstruction and lop top bottles are basically nothing for what y'all find. But knowing the...

My dug civil war bottle collection (pic heavy)

    C. T. Bowen & Co. Pottsville / Blue squat soda

Thanks! It's nice to be able to put a bit of personal history to the name on the side of the bottle. Some time in 1863 he shipped a case down to brandy station Virginia, where they ended up in a trash pit for some of the officers of the NY excelsior brigade. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk

Civil War Hut finds (and a soda question!)

Thank you! I don't think it's an iron pontil that would be on the outside correct? This is definitely on the inside. Thanks for the info on the bricks too :)

Civil War Hut finds (and a soda question!)

Hey ya'll! First post here, so go easy on me haha. My good friend Keith and I recently had the opportunity to do some bottle digging in a Union Civil War officer's hut site here in Virginia. The thing was loaded with brick and stone, including a cool "82" date brick for 1782 from whatever...
