    Old Vess Tonic Identification

I collect Vess bottles of all kinds. Vess is a St. Louis based beverage and had franchises all over the Midwest.

Hoping to learn about Frostie-like bottle found in crawl space

You know I seen lots of Frostie bottles in my day, so at first glance I assumed Frostie the name would be somewhere on the bottle, but clearly it not. So I am a bit stumped on this one. LOL

    Question of quality

That is a neat bottle. Depending on rarity the little ding would make no difference to a collector. If the bottle is common the ding may be a factor as a collector may hold off for a better example. I am no expert on Doc's bottles as far as rarity goes.

Hoping to learn about Frostie-like bottle found in crawl space

Nice early Frostie bottle. The Cantonsville Bottling Co. would have had a franchise for Frostie Root Beer. The Frostie Company was headquartered in Baltimore.

    R.H. Warns, Inc. info?

I subscribe to an online newspaper site and got lucky finding a mini bio from 1939 and a couple of ads. Enjoy!

    Cantrell & Cochraine

Fresh out of the tumbler is this Cantrell & Cochraine round bottom ginger ale bottle. I can date this bottle to around 1881 or 1892, namely because I found two ads that mention what is embossed on the bottle. (See that the Cork is branded "Cantrell & Cochraine" Dublin & Belfast). Hard to read...

    Camel Soda Bottles

The paper label bottle is really cool. Its really hard as you know to find paper label bottles in good condition!

    Camel Soda Bottles

I am from St. Louis and have the Western Camels in my collection. The embossed quarts are quite common as well as the 7 oz size. I have the 6 1/2 oz version that is a bit harder to find. The acl versions were at one time quite common as well, but as with many brands they are getting harder and...

Is this an unusual Mason's Root Beer variation?

Nice, I don't recall seeing that version, I have two in my collection that are dated in the 1950's that have the square yellow backdrop. Being 1948 it is definitely an earlier version.

    Tru Root from 1958

    Latest find, "Hi-Top" ACL

Definitely a cool bottle! I did find one article in a newspaper archive service I subscribe to from 1949. It may or may not be your bottle.

Cheves Cola - Chero Cola Question

Definitely an awesome picture. Old soda pics are so cool, to me anyway.

    Joe Louis Beverages bottle

Very nice ACL, I have two versions to share today.

John Duringer Bottle. / Carondelet, Missouri

Somewhat new to my collection, but fresh out of the tumbler is this John Duringer bottle from Carondelet, Missouri. I could find just a one bit of information about this bottler and that online source mentioned this bottler was only in business from 1861-1863. I did find an 1865 directory...

    Greetings from St Louis

Hi catbradford! I live in St. Louis also but am strictly a soda collector. Here is what I know about Missouri Carbonating Co.

St. Louis Quality (with Crown motif) by Root Glass Co.

I have the same bottle in my collection of St. Louis soda's. A bit of a hard bottle to find. Mine has a 13 on it, so I am guessing around 1913.

What can you tell me about this bottle

Here is an ad from 1904 that shows a flask bottle similar to yours

What can you tell me about this bottle

I found a neat little article for G. Samuel. I am not sure that your bottle dates to the article, but it was fun to read. Another ad says he bottled both beer and soda.

    Parkway - Purity First

Looks to a be a soda bottle to me, but the contents may have been illegally brewed liquor from the prohibition era. I found an article in old newspapers with details of a raid, here is one paragraph of that article. Another partial article, I found amusing as they did find some soda bottles at...
